About the plant
Sea Buckthorn is in the genus Hippophaea and in the family Elaeagnaceae. It has been used over centuries as food, traditional medicine, and as a skin treatment in its native regions of northern Europe. It is winter hardy and it lovingly fixes nitrogen into the soil. Which makes it a wonderful addition to a polyculture or agroforestry system for the north.
