A blend for the body's cyclical rhythms. Clary sage has been called a woman's oil for centuries — not as metaphor but as material fact. Salvia sclarea acts on the same hormonal pathways that govern the menstrual cycle, easing cramping and tension through both topical application and inhalation. It is one of the few plants with documented effects on estrogen receptors.
Around it: lavender for the nervous system, ylang ylang for emotional steadying, geranium for hormonal balance and circulation, rosewood for its high linalool content — deeply calming, associated with rest and the threshold between waking and sleep.
Apply to the lower abdomen, lower back, and pulse points during your cycle or whenever tension accumulates. Breathe.

Clary Sage · Salvia sclarea A split sourcing: a portion of our clary sage is grown and distilled on our farm in Cornish, NH — harvested from flowering tops at peak bloom. When the farm yield is insufficient for the full year's production, we source from a USDA certified organic supplier in France. Salvia sclarea is native to the Mediterranean and Balkans — it grows at the northern edge of its range in Vermont and New Hampshire, which gives the farm-grown oil a particular character.
Geranium · Pelargonium graveolens Certified organic by CCOF. Steam distilled from leaves grown in the Congo. Rose geranium from central Africa has a distinctly greener, more herbaceous quality than the Egyptian or Moroccan grown oil — rosy but with an edge that keeps it from being merely pretty.
Rosewood · Aniba rosaeodora Sourced from Florihana, a certified organic French distillery operating since 1993. Cultivated in Brazil — extracted from leaves and branches rather than the heartwood, which is the harvesting practice that drove the species toward endangerment. CITES certified. Aniba rosaeodora remains a species worth using carefully and sparingly.
Ylang Ylang · Cananga odorata Certified organic by CCOF. Steam distilled from flowers grown in Madagascar. We use the "extra" distillation — the first fraction collected off the still, the most aromatic and perfumery-forward of all the ylang ylang cuts. Bright, intensely floral, a little goes a long way.
