Shake thoroughly before each use — the zinc settles and needs to be redistributed. Apply generously to all exposed skin before going outside. Reapply every 1–2 hours, more often in water or high UV conditions. Avoid the eye area.

This is a mineral oil, not a water-resistant sunscreen. Wear a hat.

Zinc sunscreens have always bothered me — thick, drying, impossible to blend in, and with ingredient lists I couldn't trust. I wanted mineral protection that actually felt like something worth putting on your face.

I made this formula in spring, knowing I was heading into months of garden work and wanted to protect my skin without dreading the application. The aromatic brief I gave myself was specific: the smell of summer, fruit, tropical days on Miami Beach. What came out is something entirely its own: frankincense and rose otto and immortelle meeting sea buckthorn and coconut in a way I didn't fully anticipate. Every time I open this bottle it lifts me. That's not nothing in a sunscreen.

The scent of this blend is a captivating fusion  that delights the senses and enhances the skincare experience. It combines the nutty and mildly sweet aroma of Jojoba Oil with the tropical and creamy fragrance of coconut oil. Sea Buckthorn oil adds a subtle fruity and citrusy note, while Tamanu Oil contributes a rich, earthy scent. The fragrance is further enhanced by the floral and herbaceous tones of Helichrysum italicum, Rose Otto, Cape Chamomile, Geranium, Lavender oil, and Palmarosa Oil. The addition of Frankincense Oil and Sandalwood brings a warm and woody undertone to the scent profile. Ginger adds a touch of spiciness, while Sweet Thyme and Turmeric Oil lend an herbal and slightly medicinal aroma. Calendula offers a delicate floral note, completing the fragrance with a subtle hint of freshness. 

To properly store Solar Shield Oil, follow these guidelines:

Keep it in a cool, dry place: Store the sunscreen oil in a cool area away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Exposure to heat and sunlight can degrade the quality of the oil and reduce its effectiveness.

Secure the container tightly: Ensure that the lid or cap of the container is tightly sealed to prevent air and moisture from entering. This helps maintain the freshness and longevity of the oil.

Avoid extreme temperature fluctuations: Fluctuations in temperature can affect the consistency and stability of the oil. Avoid storing it in areas prone to extreme heat or cold, such as near windows, heaters, or refrigerators.
